Commentary to Mark 9 – Maggots!

It is time to clear the air. Many people seem to misunderstand majorly about a saying by Moshiach.

Y’shua says the parables are hidden from the natural man. We may seek the Ruwach to reveal to us what Elohiym (Godhead) means in Scripture. Today’s saying in Mark 9.

Y’shua will find the lost sheep of the House of Israel, that belongs to Him.

Y’shua will find the gentile believer who fears His Father.

And Y’shua will find every person who causes sin and iniquity.

43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell,[h] to the unquenchable fire.[i] 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, 48 ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ 49 For everyone will be salted with fire.

The original Greek word for worm means “grub” or “maggot.” The Lord does not mind using hyperbole to cause His listeners to pay attention.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

The Lord refers to a local method of garbage disposal to clarify that there is no escape whatsoever to the permanent consequences of unrepentant sinners. With fire and with maggots, either way the perpetrator will complete his penalty from the just judgment of the Almighty.

The fire in point here is the “Gehenna fire.” Gehenna, or the valley of Hinnom, is located outside Jerusalem as a garbage dumpster for trash.

So we must begin here. What is tossed in Gehenna?

It is an spiritual incinerator that runs 24/7, much like in Wu Han when there is a continuous feed of the deceased to be treated for the sake of the living. Trash, refuse, animal carcasses, and even the dead bodies of despised criminals were thrown there for processing. The fire in penalty shall be the spiritual equivalent of the physical fire in Gehenna.
At Gehenna, the trash is piled up to be burned. As the bottom burns away the combustible, the top collapses to the middle. New trash is pile on top of the pile to get burned.
To cover the trash that is falling off the bottom, there comes the maggots. The trash that escapes the fire would all the same be devoured by maggots.Messiah’s point is that whatever was thrown into the valley of Hinnom never came out again. All was totally consumed by judgment, either by fire or by maggots.
In other words, just as nothing and no thing may spray the maggots or put out the flames in the valley of Gehenna, so there will be no escape from God’s complete and final judgment. God has decreed for all unrepentant sinners in the “lake of fire” where the devil, the major beast and the minor beast (Revelation 13) will be joined by those with such a sentencing.
